Biotechnology YES is an academic business idea competition based in the UK and now open to students from India this year, from 24-26 October 2007. The programme aims to encourage entrepreneurialism among the bioscience postgraduate and doctorate base. Biotechnology YES is managed and organised by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and University of Nottingham Institute for Enterprise and Innovation (UNIEI). In the 12th year of YES, Indian students will be participating for the first time and will get an opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship and commercialisation in the UK. Two teams of five students each from India will be attending three day workshops in Edinburgh (September) and other two in Oxford (October). The best Indian team will showcase its business plan in the finals to be held in London in December.

Along with the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) we selected the four teams after a round of initial shortlisting and a final round of presentations in Delhi. The selected teams were identified on the basis of their business ideas presented to a selection panel comprising of eminent academics, an entrepreneur and a venture capitalist. The intense competition among teams from some of the best institutes in India came up with few high quality business idea presentations among which one was from your institute.
The students from IIT Bombay are Ayesha Chaudhary (team leader), Swati M, Deepti Dyondi, Anubhav Kaviratna and Rahul Dev Jayant. |
| All of them will be attending the workshop in Oxford from 24-26 October. They will be leaving for Oxford on 23rd October. Their expenses on travel, stay, subsistence and participation in the YES workshops cum competition in UK are supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), UK | |
