Elementary theory of groups and their representation, application solid state physics. Electronic state in solids. Hartree and HartreeFock approximation. Free electron, exchange, pseudopotential theory.
Cohesive energy of simple metals. Energy bands and their symmetries.
Magnetism: Heisenberg exchange and magnetic ordering, magnetic resonance and relaxation. Superconductivity: Microscopic theory, Josephson effect, flux quantization.
