It gives us immense pleasure to welcome Prof. Saptarshi P. Ghosh to the IIT Bombay family. He joined the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at IIT Bombay as an Assistant Professor in March 2019.
Prof. Ghosh has completed his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Birmingham, UK. He has an MA in Economics from the Pennsylvania State University, USA and a Masters in Quantitative Economics from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. Previously, he has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the Shiv Nadar University, in Delhi NCR.
Prof. Ghosh’s research interests broadly lie in the areas of Game Theory, Applied Microeconomics, Development Economics, Political Economy, and Public Policy. He has had his papers published in Games and Economic Behavior, which are widely acclaimed to be among the best journals in Game Theory globally. At present, he is working on issues relating to Information Theory, Institutional Design, Voting, and Consumer Herding. His teaching interests lie in the areas of Microeconomics, Game Theory, Political Economy, Public Economics and Development Economics.
At IIT Bombay, Prof. Ghosh plans to engage closely with students and attempt to instill a deep interest in the realm of Game Theory and Microeconomics. He also hopes to initiate exciting research projects both with his colleagues and students here at IIT Bombay. In his spare time, Prof. Ghosh enjoys listening to music, reading books, and playing chess.
