Professor
S. P. Sukhatme, Ex-Director and Professor of Mechanical
Engineering will be awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award
for an
Acdemic" by IIT Bombay on March 12, 2001.
IIT Bombay has recently instituted the "Lifetime
Achievement Award for an Academic" to show its appreciation
of sustained outstanding contributions by a faculty member.
The award is conferred on a faculty member who has
(a) served the Institute with distinction for a major part of
his / her
career as a faculty member (at least twenty years), and
(b) made outstanding contributions towards teaching,
research, industrial
interaction and institution building - as perceived by students,
alumni,
and peers.
Prefessor Sukhatme is the first recepient of this award.
