IIT B student awarded Rhodes Scholarship 

 

Mr. Ravish Kumar Tiwari, Senior Undergraduate, Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, has been awarded prestigious Rhodes Scholarship to read for his higher studies at the University Of Oxford. He is the one of the six scholars elected from India for the year 2005. He will be joining Linacre College at the University of Oxford to read for MSc in Comparative Social Policy beginning October 2005. 

Every year the Rhodes Trust (UK) selects around 90  scholars from around the world (including 6 from India) to read for their higher studies at the University of Oxford. The scholars are selected on the basis of his/her all-round performances in the areas of academics, sports, and other extra-curricular activities. Some of the notable past Rhodes Scholars

include Edwin Hubble, Larry Pressler, Bill Clinton,  Strobe Talbott, Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Girish Karnad among others. Notably Ravish will be the first Rhodes Scholar from IIT Bombay.
