Workshop: on Transmission Electron Microscopy

Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science organized a three-day workshop on Transmission Electron Microscopy on April 11, 2005. The workshop was attended by over sixty participants from the institute and a few from other organizations.

Eminent electron microscopist, Dr. T.R. Ramachandran, who was earlier Professor and Head of Department of Metallurgical Engineering at IIT Kanpur and Director, Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminum Research Center at Nagpur, delivered talks starting from the fundamentals of electron beam interactions and its utility in materials characterization to diffraction analysis, image formation and various contrast mechanisms. He brought out the most complicated topic of defect analysis very elegantly.

Earlier, he recalled how he started his career as faculty at IITB and dedicated the workshop to Prof. G. S. Tendolkar, who was a founder Head of the Department. The lectures were well received by the participants
