Interaction Workshop
CSRE has taken up a Research & Development Project on "GIS based rural development planning at district/sub-district level", sponsored by the Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, New Delhi under its Technology Development, Extension & Training (TDET) Scheme. One of the objectives of the project is to identify the problems, if any, in the information collection, analysis and management, and try to solve them in this project. It is planned to develop a Web Portal/Decision Support System, called 'Gramya Vikas' to overcome this information gap. A pre-requisite in this regard is to carry out the ‘NEEDS ASSESSMENT’. This exercise is to assess the requirement of the district planners/functionaries in terms of type and nature of database, and thus a suitable GIS/Web system, for use in their day-to-day decision making on planning/ implementation/monitoring of rural development programmes in their jurisdiction. The Project Investigating team is planning to understand the needs through discussions, questionnaires and workshops/training programmes. As a part of this exercise, CSRE, in collaboration with the District Administration of Mahabubnagar District, Andhra Pradesh, is Organizing a User Interaction Workshop ‘Needs Assessment for the Development of Rural-Informatics in Decision-making at District/Sub-district Level’ on 11.11.2005 at Mahabubnagar. CSRE Faculty, Mahabubnagar District Administration & Rural Extension Community and Ministry of Rural Development, New Delhi will be contributing to the Workshop. The following will be discussed /deliberated in the Workshop:
