IITB provides an enabling environment for entrepreneurship for decades now. Start-ups operating out of hostels and managed by students is more a norm than an exception in the campus. Some of the facilities already in place are the Tinkerers' Lab – where students try out various technology ideas - and SINE, the business incubator of the Institute. Over 40 successful companies have graduated from SINE. Around 15 companies are under incubation presently.
The Centre for Entrepreneurship will further channelize these entrepreneurial energies at IITB through structured academic courses, Proof of Concept Centre, pre-incubation support, student exchange programmes and internships. The Centre is also working towards development of high-impact case studies based on the entrepreneurship experience in and outside the campus.
