Shivganesh Bhargava worked for his Ph. D. (Gujarat University) in the field of Performance Management with a distinguished Professor of Management at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad after graduating from University of Allahabad.

Academic Experience

He started his career in Research at the IIM Ahmedabad (1980-1984) and moved to teaching/research/consulting/training as Faculty at the IIT, Bombay and IIM, Lucknow.


Presently Head of the Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay. He has also been the Founder Director of JK Lakshmipat University Jaipur.


In recognition of his contributions, he received the VKRV Rao Award (2003) in Management by the ICSSR, New Delhi, which is awarded to person who has made significant original contributions to human knowledge and progress, applied or fundamental, who are citizens of India, below the age of 45 years, in the year for which the award is made, and engaged in research in any one of the social science disciplines. He is recipient of the MPCOST Young Scientist Award (1988) by the MP Young Science Congress Association & MP Council of Science and Technology as well as ISCA Young Scientist Award (1986) by the Indian Science Congress Association.

He has been Awarded as the Best Professor in Human Resources Management by the World Education Congress (June 28, 2013) and Best Professor in Human Resources Management by ET NOW National Education Leadership Awards (February 2013).


Research work of his team got recognition as the Best Paper Award (2012) by the Academy of Management, Boston USA, 3rd Best Paper Award (2012) by the International Human Resource Management, MDI, Gurgaon, India, Best Paper Award (2010) by the International Human Resource Management, Birmingham Aston UK and Best Case Award (2006)  by the Indian School of Business Hyderabad India.


Bhargava’s passion for research is visible by his regular publications in peer-reviewed international journals such as International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Managerial Psychology, International Journal of Human Resource Management and Development, Journal of Social Psychology, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Career Development, Gender in Management: An International Journal and Iinternational Journal of Business, Management and Social Sciences. At the national level, he has publications in the Vikalpa (IIM, Ahmedabad), Management Review (IIM Bangalore), Vision (MDI, Gurgaon) and Psychological Studies (NAOP). He has published 3 books from the Sage Publications, over 50 research papers in the international/national journals and has presented/contributed over 130 papers at the international/national conferences/seminars.

Professional Services

He has guided around 25 Post-doctoral, doctoral and M. Phil students completed around dozen of sponsored/consulting Projects. He has been the Chair/Co-Chair and is member of national/international professional bodies.
