Dialogue with Stakeholders

SINE-IIT Bombay and Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship come together to organise an event ‘Dialogue with Stakeholders’. IIT Bombay has a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem with an incubator Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) for promotion of entrepreneurship by incubating early stage technology ventures and providing them with a conducive support system. A student body- eCell which creates and promotes awareness about entrepreneurship among student community. IIT Bombay has also set up a Desai Sethi School for Entrepreneurship (DSSE) supported by its distinguish alumnus to offer formal academic courses and programs in entrepreneurship. The Centre completed 5 years of its existence.

As an acknowledgement to the contribution by the stakeholders, SINE and DSSE organised an event with an intent to have a Dialogue with Stakeholders to celebrate spirit of entrepreneurship. The event brought together various stakeholder such as academicians, policy-makers, industry leaders, investors, business incubators and aspiring entrepreneurs from across the nation for a dialogue.

The event was a resounding success with 300+ participants attending the event. It marked the completion of 15 years of SINE and 5 years of DSSE and their immense contributions to the emergence and growth of a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem inside IIT Bombay.

Prominent individuals from each avenue offering their insights as part of Keynotes, Panel Discussions and Fireside Chats by Industry stalwarts like, Mr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Author, Corporate Advisor and Former ED, Tata Sons and Mr. Hemant Luthra Advisor, Clayton Dubilier & Rice Former Chairman, Mahindra CIE

Mr. Gopal Krishnan stressed the need on how important it is for a startup to become an IPO in order to be marked as a true success and how it must transition in its growth path from Startup to Compnay to Institution.

The discussions held through the day gave insights into various aspects of the Indian start-up ecosystem on themes as

  • Innovations and entrepreneurship: Looking beyond business goals.
  • Government, as enabler for conducive environment
  • Is entrepreneurship in India becoming mainstream for economic development
  • Developing entrepreneurial culture in academia.
  • Startup funding: looking beyond trends

Sushanto Mitra of Lead Angels held a discussion with fellow investors like, Samir Kumar, Inventus Capital, Sandeep Singhal, Nexus Venture Partners, Sanjay Nath, Blume Ventures, Venkat Vallabhaneni, Parampara Ventures and Sanjay Mehta, 100X.VC

Continuing their commitment to foster entrepreneurship, on Campus, a competition titled Best Campus Startups was opened for entrepreneurs / startups on campus across India to pitch their idea and get a chance to win a prize money.

A Roundtable for Incubators was held titled Ask me Anything where in Q&A Session on incubation management was held by SINE team as a concluding part of the event.

The event also served as an excellent networking opportunity for stakeholders to get to know and connect with each other for future collaborations.
