The IIT Bombay racing team participated in the Formula Bharat Electric Vehicle Concept Challenge held at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore during January 25-28, 2018. The team bagged the first position in the Business Event and second position in the Design Event. They were also invited by the organisers to make a brief presentation to participating teams on "Safety While Working on Electric Vehicles" taking into consideration the excellent safety track record of IIT Bombay racing team.
Formula Bharat is India’s premier student designed race car competition, with qualified judges not just from the Indian industry, but also experienced individuals from international motorsports events such as Formula One. Participating teams were required to present the engineering design, business model and costing of the vehicle. It was organised by the Mobility Engineering Consortium Private Limited.
IIT Bombay Racing is a team of 60 tech enthusiasts, spread across 10 departments of the Institute, who design, fabricate, test and race a Formula Student Electric Race Car. The team has been consistently ranked among the top two electric teams in India according to official FSAE rankings.
Prof. Amber Shrivastava, Prof. Ramesh Singh and Prof. Anirban Guha from Department of Mechanical Engineering guided and supported the team for the great success.
