National Unity Day 2019

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay commemorated the birth anniversary of Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by observing National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) on October 31, 2019. Following programmes were conducted with great zeal and enthusiasm to honor his memory:

* Kendriya Vidyalaya in Powai, Mumbai celebrated the day by taking a pledge during morning prayer. The morning assembly programme was presented by the students based on contribution and life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

* Vice-Principal Mr. Mithilesh Kumar Singh, in his address, stated that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s will and determination, his excellent negotiation skills and various strategies enabled to unite the 565 self-governing princely states post-independence into a unified India. Followed by this, there was a talk on the sagacious life and activities of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and recitation of Rashtriya Ekta Gaan by Secondary Section Students of the Vidyalaya.

* In accordance with National Unity Day, following activities were also conducted in the Vidyalaya:

  • Exhibition of the activities on 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'

  • Unity Run

  • Prabhat Pheri

  • Slogan Writing Competition

  • Essay Writing Competition was organized on the topic “The Life Story of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel” 

  • Debate on “Is Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel the Iron Man of India?” conducted in both Hindi and English
