Facilities at IIT Mumbai
Like any township, IIT campus is self-sufficient as far as day-to-day activities are concerned. Most of the facilities like post office, banks, hospital are available within the campus. For sports activities there is Gymkhana and for cultural activities SAC. IIT also houses a swimming pool which is used not only by students but the campusites too.

Library
The library is very close to the Main Building and is an excellent one (AC, CD - Rom, CCOD, automated book - issue and all). You can borrow upto seven books for a period of thirty days. Some books (called study room books) are issued after 10 p. m. for one night only and that too only against the I - card. All this, all the year round, without any but three holidays.
The Technology Lending Library (TLL), a facility for students whose parents fall in the low income group, lends some books at a reduced price for a semester. You will need an income certificate for this purpose. Books from the BC collection are issued to SC / ST students. The library also has a photocopying facility.

Students Activities Centre
If you are a sports enthusiast, the SAC has a gymnasium, a squash court and facilities foe gymnastics. You can also play TT, carrom, chess and bridge. SAC also houses facilities for various hobbies like - HAM radio equipment, Electronics Club, et al. There is also an Open Air Theatre (OAT) in the SAC. This is used for open air programmes (after the monsoons).
Convocation Hall
The huge Convocation Hall is used for a variety of purposes. Most of the cultural activities like the PAF, MI, etc take place in this hall. Apart from the yearly convocation, weekly movies are also screened in the convo. The room behind the Convocation Hall houses the Music Room where a variety of music instruments (even a piano).
Hospital
There is a 60 bed hospital with full time doctors and visiting specialists. The hospital has its own pathological labs, x - ray & ECG facilities and a physiotherapy section too. The OPD timings are 8 a. m. to 6 p. m.. The doctor on duty in the wards will see you at other times in cases of emergency. An ambulance is available on a telephone call (#5555). If one falls ill before or after the examinations, one needs a medical certificate from the Senior Medical Officer for the retests.
The medical facilities are available free of cost to the students, while the faculty and the staff have to pay a sum of Rs.1 per visit to the OPD.
Banks
There's an SBI Branch (9:45 am to 1:45 pm, week days. 9:45 am to 12:45 pm on Saturdays). Saraswati Co-op. Bank Branch (8:30 am to 12:30 pm on weekdays and 8:30 am to 11:30 am on Saturdays). Canara Bank, in the Cafeteria Building. (9:00 am to 3:00 pm on weekdays and 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday). It is well - equipped, computerized branch, assuring instant deposits and withdrawls - saving a lot of your precious time.
Post Office
A Post Office is situated at the Y - Point Gate (YP). Timing : 9 a. m. to 5 p. m.. (Postal Orders, Registration, etc upto 3 p. m. only).
IIT Market
There is a market at YP both inside and outside the campus. (No wonder its called the market gate by bus conductors). Apart from this there is a Co-op (IIT Consumers CO-op. Society) in the MB (Main Building) fro books and stationery. Books are also available at YP.
There's a cycleshop near H8 & a cobbler's shop near H1.
The laundry guy often comes to the hostel, otherwise there's one behind H8.
Printing Press
The IIT Printing Press prints many of our students publications among other things like printing the full stationery, brochures, forms, etc. for any purpose relating to IIT.
IDC Auditorium
The Industrial Design Centre (IDC) has its own auditorium which they allow to use for conducting instiute seminars, lectures, etc, besides screening a weekly movie on Thursdays, an activity of the IDC Movie Club, for which membership is available to the non - IDCians at a sum of Rs.50 per semester.
Hills and Lakes
The campus of IIT Bombay is one of the most beautiful campus in the world. Nature has bestowed us with two lovely lakes and two hills to make the atmosphere all the more serene and exotic. One of the lakes, Powai, also supplies water to most parts of Bombay. The other lake, Vihar, is surrounded from all sides by the hills, making the sunset the most lovely to watch; while Powai suffices one's eyes' appetite and refreshes the mind by offering the view of the sunrise and the reflections of the changing colours of the sky in water.
Security
IIT Bombay has a large and efficient security force, offering its services to all the buildings, including the residential areas, the gates, et al. Security kiosks are present at accessible distance from all points in the campus.
