Shri. Anil Kakodkar Takes Over as Chairman IIT Bombay

The President of India in his capacity as the Visitor of  the Institute has appointed Shri. Anil Kakodkar,  Chairman,  Atomic Energy Commission & Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Atomic Energy  as Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Bombay replacing Shri Rahul Bajaj. The term of appointment is for three years,  with effect from 12^th May 2006.   A distinguished engineer and scientist of international repute, Dr. Kakodkar has played a major role in  India's design and development capability and self-reliance in nuclear technology.  IIT Bombay has had the privilege of enjoying the sustained involvement of Dr. Kakodkar in its research and development  programmes for over three and half decades.  Recipient of  Doctor  of Science (Honoris Causa)  from IIT Bombay,  Dr.  Kakodkar also  contributed  very significantly to the governance  of IIT Bombay as a member of its Board of Governors for  six years during June 1998 to June 2001 and January 2002 to December 2004.
