Zeus Numerix: IITBombay’s CFD Company Grows Larger Zeus Numerix Pvt. Ltd. is a computer aided engineering company incubated at Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), IIT Bombay. Co-founded by Prof. G R Shevare (Aerospace Engineering) , and his students Shri. Basant Gupta, Shri Irshad Khan, and Dr. S. Banerji, the company today has transformed into one of the largest Indian groups in area of CFD with its own intellectual property The company has received the Lockheed Martin award for innovative company. The genesis of the company harks back to some years. Originally it was a research group called IITZeus lead by Prof. G. R. Shevare, which began by providing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solutions to India’s aerospace & defense laboratories. During the process, the group developed key proprietary modules backed by intellectual property rights. When SINE was set up, the research group took a commercial shape in the form of Zeus Numerix Pvt. Ltd. and it decided to incubate the company in 2004.
Zeus Numerix currently boasts of many national research laboratories and DRDO laboratories as its customers, with still others in Europe, US and East Asia. It contributes to very prestigious projects such as hypersonic technology demonstrator, fast breeder reactor, missile & rocket systems, etc. With Angel investment Zeus Numerix has presently graduated from the incubator, and is now a self-sustaining organization.
