Short Term Training Programme On

Variable Speed AC Drives

April 09 - 11, 2003

Course Objectives

With recent advances in power semiconductor and converter topologies, variable speed drives are witnessing a revolution in applications including fans, pumps, compressors, paper-mill drives, automation and traction, ship propulsion, and cement-mill drives. The increased popularity of variable speed drive (VSD) system may be explained by the many advantages a VSD can offer. Such adavtanges include operation at speeds significantly different from the synchronous speed, energy saving, improved proecss performance, improved system efficiency etc.

This course is aimed at familiarizing engineers and professionals about the recent developments in the field of variable speed ac drives.

Course Contents

Tutorials and Demonstrations

Apart from lecture classes, Simulations and Laboratory demonstrations are planned.

Who Should Attend?

This course is intended for engineers involved in the operation, design and development of electrical drives.

Schedule

The course is scheduled during April 09 - 11, 2003.
