Two-Day CEP Course on

September 13-14, 2003

 

 

Introduction

This course will cover the technologies that are used to put together an e-Commerce site as well as automate the internal workings of an enterprise. Starting from the front end web technologies, we will progressively move into the enterprise back office automation needs.

 

We will also learn how to put these technologies together into cohesive architectures that turn a normal business into an “eBusiness”. 

 

We will not learn about any specific products but rather those technologies that underlie most products of these kinds.

 

Faculty

Prof. Umesh Bellur joined as Associate Professor in in IIT Bombay in the year 2003. He worked as a researcher for oracle ,  after working for the telecommunications industry. He was also a founder member of a start up in Silicon Valley.

He received his PhD from Syracuse University in 1994, and his BE from Bangalore University in 1988. His research interests cover Distributed Object Oriented Computing, Middleware and its application to Mobile Computing, Autonomic computing models and platforms for self-healing in distributed settings, and Grid computing.

 

Target audience

Architects and technical managers in the IT industry or IT groups within other enterprises. Teachers of software and systems engineering, electronic commerce and those generally wanting to catch up on technology development in

e-Business.


Course Fee

The course fee per participant is Rs. 2,500/- for academic institutions and Rs. 5,000/- for others. (*Academic participants must send a certificate of affiliation with academic / govt. R&D institute to avail the discounted rate*.)

Each applicant will receive lecture notes, the cost of which is included in the registration fee. This fee also includes refreshments and working lunch during the course days.

 

Venue

This course, offered through the Distance Education Program, will be broadcast live through satellite transmission to a number of registered Remote Centers (RCs) with provision for live interaction. Participants can register and attend classes (subject to a minimum number of registrations) from one of the Remote Centers listed below.

Kindly note that no income tax is to be deducted at source from the course fee payments as IIT Bombay is exempted from the same.
