Two-Day Training Course

On

WIND ENERGY CONVERSION SYSTEMS

April 21-22, 2003

Organized by

ENERGY SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

Wind Energy Conversion Technologies

Wind Energy is economically viable renewable energy source today, the first amongst all the renewable energy options. Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) of generation capacity of about 25,000 MW are installed World over. Till date, India has installed over 1,700 MW of wind power and ranks fifth in the world. India has also started exporting Wind Machines.

Increasingly, a need is felt for skilled technical manpower to understand, handle and design wind machine technologies. With this requirement in mind, a two-days training course on Wind Energy Conversion Systems is planned on April 21-22, 2003 at IIT-Bombay.

Course Objectives

This course is designed for practising engineers and scientists who are interested in or are already exposed to Wind Energy conversion Technologies. The course will provide an introduction to the skills and techniques required for analysis of Wind Energy Systems.  The course will expose the participants to the methods of selection, siting and analysis of Wind Energy Systems.

Who Should Attend?

This course is meant for engineers and scientists from industry, government agencies, academic institutions as well as entrepreneurs who are interested in Wind Energy Conversion Technologies.

Programme Venue

The programme will be held at the Institute Guest House, IIT Bombay. IIT Bombay is a township in Mumbai that has retained its green cover and is rich in natural flora and fauna. The campus extends over 220 hectares amidst picturesque surroundings with Vihar and Powai lakes on either side.

About IIT Bombay & ESE

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is one of the premier technological institutions in India with students and faculty who are comparable with the best in the world. The institute has a vibrant research culture and has several linkages with Indian and international industries and institutes.

Energy Systems Engineering (ESE) is an inter-disciplinary programme with a mission to develop sustainable energy technologies and to look for solutions for the future.

Apart from the post-graduate (M.Tech and Ph.D.) programmes, the ESE faculty have been actively involved in organizing training programmes in the field of energy efficiency, energy conservation and renewable energy.

Accommodation

Accommodation during the course can be arranged in the institute Guest House for a limited number of participants on advance request. Accommodation charges are not included in the course fee and should be paid directly by the participant.

Course Fee

The course fee is Rs.4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand Only) per participant. The demand draft should be drawn in favour of “The Registrar, IIT Bombay- CEP Account” payable at Mumbai. No income tax is to be deducted at source from the course fee, as IIT Bombay is exempt from the same. The course fee includes course material, lunch and coffee/tea.

Product Display

Organizations dealing with Wind Energy Conversion Systems can display their products during the course by paying Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only).  Open area of 3m x 3m will be made available for product display.
