Systems
Introduction
Multimedia systems have emerged as a prime area in
the Information revolution. Multimedia systems encompass diverse media such as
audio (speech, music and other sources of sound), graphics, images, animation
and video.
The huge volume, structure and properties of such
forms of data has necessitated developments in the areas of data storage,
transmission over communication networks, analysis and synthesis, and is thus a
multidisciplinary activity. The course aims at exposing participants to the
basics of multimedia systems, and various aspects of currents industry
standards, and ongoing research.
Who may benefit
Multimedia Systems is an interdisciplinary area and
should benefit animators, system architects, codec engineers and other people working
in the disciplines of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication,
Computer Science and Engineering, and Information Technology – both working
engineers in Industry, as well as those in Academic Institutions. It will also
be useful to professionals managing engineers in this industry.

Course Package
There will be lectures, and brief demon-strations.
The participants will receive a CD containing the lecture notes. Both days will
have working lunches, and tea sessions (included in the course fees).
Duration
The course will be held during September 9 and 10,
2003.

The course venue is Seminar Hall, 2nd
Floor, Institute Guest House, IIT Bombay.
Course Fee
The Course fee is Rs.4,000/- per participant.
