Appearing for Joint Management Entrance Test 2004 (JMET 2004) is the first step in the process of seeking admission to the Post-Graduate Programmes in Management offered by IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee.

The IISc and participating IITs will use the results of JMET 2004 to short list candidates for the subsequent part of the selection process(es). Applicants should note that they have to apply for and send separate application forms to different IITs and IISc as per their choices. Candidates are advised to refer to the details provided by each of the Institutes in this website. An applicant can apply to as many programmes as desired by him / her subject to fulfillment of eligibility requirements. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING FOR JMET

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You can either apply Online or Offline i.e. By POST. Fee for Online application is Rs 700/- for General Category & Rs. 300/- for SC / ST categories. Fee for Offline application is Rs 800/- for General Category & Rs. 400/- for SC / ST categories. If you are applying Online, it is mandatory to have a valid e-mail account for all future interaction with the Organising Institute regarding your application.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING ONLINE

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 1: Information
Check the information in the following links:  Programmes & Eligibility , Contact Details , Test Centres , Test Structure , Important Dates.

Step 2: Application
If you find yourself eligible, apply for JMET 2004 by clicking "How to Apply". The ONLINE application process requires you to upload your photograph and signature as Image Files (strictly in JPEG format). Please keep your Image Files ready by scanning your photograph, signature and category (SC / ST / PH) certificate (if applicable) separately before clicking on the  "How to Apply".  Additionally you are required to provide the following details :

  • Name
  • Other personal details as asked for in the Application form
  • Address
  • E-Mail Address
  • Category: SC / ST / General
  • Physically Challanged(Handicapped): Yes/ No
  • Qualifying Degree Status: Passed / Appeared / Appearing
  • Percentage / CGPA
  • Programme Choice: FullTime / PartTime / Both  
    Please note that you will not be able to modify this option later on. For part time programme a minimum experience as  specified  by the institute is required.
  • Choice of Test city
  • Zone for payment: Bangalore / Bombay / Delhi / Guwahati / Kanpur / Kharagpur / Madras / Roorkee 

Application fee will be according to the category selected. After submitting the Application Form, you will be shown Candidate Registration Confirmation page. Additionally,  you will immediately get an e-mail containing the application number and the password.

Step 3 : Depositing Fee
You should deposit the required fee as applicable by choosing the appropriate mode of the payment by clicking on the "Application Payment" on the Candidate Registration Confirmation page.

Step 4 :
Check the 'JMET Website '  by entering your Application No. and Password and make the payment within one week of filling the Application Form. If you have submitted an email ID, you will receive a email confirmation of the same. Once the fee is received and the application is approved by the JMET Administrator, then the secured area of the candidature showing the following links will be enabled.

  • Result: This link will enable the Candidate to see his/her result on the website on/after 07th January, 2005 .

Step 5 : Admit Card
The appropriate GATE Office will mail the JMET Admit Card containing your Centre code, Registration Number, and the address of the Test Centre to you by November 20, 2004. You should contact the concerned GATE office and also send a reminder (quoting your Test Centre and JMET 2004 Application Number), only if you do not receive the Admit Card by November 30, 2004.

Step 6 : Test
The JMET 2004 will be conducted on Sunday, December 12, 2004 between 1030 hrs and 1230 hrs. Note that the test date and time will not be changed under any circumstances. 

Step 7 : Result 
The JMET 2004 results will be announced on the websites of all the Institutes.
The JMET 2004 results are valid up to January 06, 2006.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING OFFLINE i.e. BY POST

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For sending the application form BY POST (OFFLINE submission), Brouchure and Application form can be obtained in person/by post from the GATE office of the zone in which the test center selected by the candidate is located. The request, accompained by two self-addressed slips and a demand draft for Rs. 800/- (Rs. 400/- for SC / ST categories) drawn in favour of the Institute concerned, has to be sent to the Chairman of the GATE office concerned. Use the forms available with the Brochure. Carefully fill in all the items of the forms after reading the instructions provided. Your photograph should be glued at the appropriate place provided in the form. You may keep an identical photograph in reserve for future need. Keep a photocopy of the forms for your record. Select two test centres of your choice in the same zone in order of preference from the list given and also indicate their city codes (Refer to Table 3.2 in the brochure). The test centres cannot normally be changed once the choice is made. Request for change of centre in exigencies should be accompanied by a D.D. for Rs. 400/- drawn in favor of the Institute of the zone in which the candidate was originally allotted a centre.

Where to send the JMET 2004 Application form
Irrespective of the choice of the test centre and place of purchase of application form, send the completely filled application form in the envelope provided to:

You are advised to send your JMET 2004 application form only by registered/speed post to GATE Office, IIT Delhi, and retain the receipt.
