Course content

Types of controllers - on/off, P, PI, PID controllers. Modeling of mechanical translation, rotary and simple hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Block diagrams, transfer functions and steady state behavior of systems. Dynamic behavior, stability criterion. Analog computer simulation of control systems. Discrete state process control. Introduction to digital control. Characteristics of measurements, temperature measurement, flow measurement, pressure measurement, level measurement. Process and instrumentation. Diagrams of selected applications from Materials process industry.
