
Professor Dipti Gupta is a distinguished faculty member in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. Her expertise lies in flexible and stretchable electronics, organic electronic devices, and wearable biosensors, with applications spanning energy and biomedical fields.
Prof. Gupta completed her B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kanpur between 1996 and 2007. Post-Ph.D., she undertook a BK-21 Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and served as an EPSRC Research Associate at Imperial College London. She also held the position of BK Assistant Professor at Seoul National University. Joining IIT Bombay in 2011 as an Assistant Professor, she progressed to Associate Professor in 2016 and became a full Professor in May 2021.
Prof. Gupta leads the Plastic Electronics and Energy Laboratory at IIT Bombay, focusing on the development of flexible sensors, thin-film transistors, organic solar cells, and wearable biosensors. Her research emphasizes the integration of organic semiconductors, metal oxides, and nanomaterials to create low-cost, high-performance devices. She has been instrumental in projects like developing flexible blood pressure sensors and EEG electrodes, aiming to enhance healthcare diagnostics. These innovations have led to the establishment of Profprenuer Innovations Pvt. Ltd. in 2022, a startup dedicated to commercializing affordable healthcare technologies in India. Her newly established start-up Dimira Technologies is recognized and selected for facilitating technological development for National Quantum Mission.
Prof. Gupta's contributions have been recognized with several accolades, including the prestigious Women Involvement in Science and Engineering Research (WISER) Award by the Indo-German Science & Technology Centre in 2023. She also serves as an Associate Editor for the journal ACS Applied Electronic Materials. Actively engaged in interdisciplinary research, Prof. Gupta collaborates with various centers at IIT Bombay, such as Technology Innovation Hub (TIH-IOT), Tata Centre for Technology and Design (TCTD), the National Center for Photovoltaic Research and Education (NCPRE), Center for Oil, Gas and Energy (COGE), Wadhwani Research Center for Bioengineering (WRCB), FedEx Centre for Advanced Logistics and Focused Analytics etc. She has also active international collaborations in prestigious universities in S. Korea, Germany, USA, UK etc.
