DPaul

Professor Ramadevi is a distinguished physicist with a strong academic background and expertise in theoretical physics. She earned her Master of Science in Physics from IIT Madras in 1991, achieving an outstanding CGPA of 9.06/10.0. She then pursued her Ph.D. at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, under the supervision of Prof. T.R. Govindarajan, completing her thesis on "Chern-Simons theory as a theory of Knots and Links" in 1996.

Her post-doctoral career includes prestigious roles as a Visiting Fellow at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, and the Mehta Research Institute, Allahabad. She also served as a Senior Research Associate at IIT Bombay from 2000 to 2001 and a Visiting Associate at CALTECH, USA, in 2001.

Professor Ramadevi joined the Department of Physics at IIT Bombay as an Assistant Professor in 2001, later becoming Associate Professor (2007–2012) and Institute Chair Professor (2018–2021).

Her research interests are in Chern-Simons Field Theories, Knot Theory, Topological String Theories, Matrix Models, Supersymmetric Gauge Theories, Vertex Models, and Machine Learning applications in theoretical physics, particularly in understanding knot-complement volume conjectures.

Professor Ramadevi's work has significantly advanced the understanding of the connections between quantum field theory, knot theory, and string theory.
