Sustainable Metal Extraction (SuMEx) Laboratory was inaugurated in the MEMS Department on August 22, 2025. The event was graced by the presence of the Head of the Department, MEMS, who joined the inaugural ceremony.

The new laboratory, established under the supervision of Prof. Jayasree Biswas, is located on the ground floor of the department. SuMEx is envisioned to be a hub for advanced research and innovation in the field of critical metals extraction, recycling technologies, and sustainable steelmaking practices. 

The department extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the SuMEx team for the successful operation and future endeavours of the laboratory.
