IIT Bombay commemorated the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2026. Dr. Rajvi Mehta, Clinical Embryologist and Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher, was the Chief Guest. Around 100 people participated in the event held at the Badminton Court.
The event was graced by several functionaries including Prof. Neela Nataraj, Dean (Strategy) and Acting Director; Prof. Suryanarayana Doolla, Dean (Student Affairs); Prof. Neeraj Kumbhakarna, Team Yogastha Faculty mentor and Mr. Ganesh Bhorkade, Registrar.
Numerous faculty members, officers, staff and students were also present to mark the occasion. The Chief Guest encouraged students to incorporate yoga in their daily lives. In the evening, many took on the Yogathon challenge of performing 108 rounds of Suryanamaskar, and most succeeded.
The International Day of Yoga is held on June 21 every year worldwide to create awareness about the various benefits of practising yoga. Yogastha, IIT Bombay hosts a variety of yoga sessions, workshops, lectures and contests throughout the year.
Students and teachers of KG School, Campus School and PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT Powai also celebrated International Yoga Day 2026 in their school premises.
