The Department of Earth Sciences at IIT Bombay celebrated 'Earth Day 2026' on 22nd April, 2026. Retired faculty Prof. K. C. Sahu was the Chief Guest of the function.

Many faculty, staff, research scholars and more than 60 students from PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) and Campus School, accompanied by their teachers, attended this function. They participated in 'Earth Walk' from the CSRE side of the Earth Sciences building to Nandan Nilekani Main Building, where Prof. Milind Atrey, Deputy Director (Academics, Research and Translation), joined them. The Chief Guest, the Head of the Department and faculty members also planted saplings on the occasion. 

In addition, a drawing and essay-writing competition was organized for KV and Campus School students. Participants were distributed certificates and winners were felicitated with prizes and certificates.
