On 20th February 2026, IIT Bombay commemorated International Mother Language Day with a vibrant celebration dedicated to honouring and promoting the richness of our languages.

The occasion brought together students, faculty and staff in a shared effort to celebrate India’s extraordinary linguistic diversity. A series of thoughtfully curated programmes were organised to encourage the preservation, appreciation and everyday use of native languages.

The celebration served as a reminder that language is more than a medium of communication. It is a carrier of identity, heritage and collective memory. Through this initiative, IIT Bombay reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing inclusivity and safeguarding the linguistic tapestry that defines our nation.
