Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) celebrated National Education Day on November 11, 2025 commemorating the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister. The Institute marked the occasion with a special ceremony to honour outstanding faculty achievements. Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, Former Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC), graced the event as the Chief Guest.
On this occasion, Prof. Krithi Ramamritham Award for Creative Research 2024 and IIT Bombay Research Awards 2024 - which include Research Publication Awards, Impactful Research Award, Research Disseminations and Early Research Achiever Awards, were presented to select faculty members.
The Research Publication Awards 2024 were conferred upon five faculty members, including Prof. Hrishikesh Gadgil, Department of Aerospace Engineering; Prof. Santanu K. Ghosh, Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering; Prof. Rajarshi Chakrabarti, Department of Chemistry; Prof. Swagata Basu, Department of Civil Engineering and Prof. Vikram Vishal, Department of Earth Sciences.
The Impactful Research Award 2024 was presented to Prof. Manish Kumar, Department of Civil Engineering.
The Research Dissemination Award 2024 was presented to Prof. Pradip Kalbar and Prof. Swatantra Pratap Singh, both from the Environmental Science and Engineering Department.
The Early Research Achiever Award 2024 was presented to Prof. Srinivasan Ramakrishnan, Department of Chemistry; Prof. Swathy Manohar, Department of Civil Engineering and Prof. Gurminder Singh, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The Prof. Krithi Ramamritham Award for Creative Research 2024 was awarded to Prof. Sujoy Bhore, Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
These recognitions celebrate exemplary contributions by faculty across diverse domains of science, engineering and technology.
This award ceremony is conducted every year on the occasion of National Education Day to recognise the achievements of the faculty members.
