IIT Bombay celebrates Teachers’ Day

Commemorating the birth anniversary of noted philosopher, educationist and statesman, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) celebrated its Teachers’ Day today at the Institute campus. Shri Shashi Shekhar Vempati, Co-Founder DeepTech for Bharat Foundation (AI4India.org), Formerly CEO, Prasar Bharati (India’s Public Broadcaster), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The celebrations began with a welcome address by the Institute’s Director, Prof. Shireesh Kedare, followed by the presentation of prestigious awards including the Professor S.P. Sukhatme Awards for Excellence in Teaching and the Excellence in Academics Awards.

The Chief Guest, Shri Shashi Shekhar Vempati conferred the Professor S.P. Sukhatme Award for Excellence in Teaching to select faculty members in recognition of their contributions to the teaching activities of the Institute.

The Awardees of the Professor S. P. Sukhatme Award for Excellence in Teaching include:

One of the highlights of the programme was the recognition of the top-performing students across classes. 92 students were felicitated by the Director Prof. Shireesh Kedare for their outstanding academic performance.

The Teachers’ Day function witnessed enthusiastic participation from the campus community, including the Dean (Academic Programmes) Prof. Suvarn Kulkarni, Dean (Faculty Affairs) Prof. Santosh Gharpure, Heads of Departments, faculty members, staff and students in large numbers.
