IIT Bombay Celebrates World Bicycle Day

The Institute Sports Council, IIT Bombay, organised a bicycle rally titled “Sunday on Cycles” on 7th June 2026 in celebration of World Bicycle Day 2026. Conducted under the aegis of the Fit India Movement, the event aimed to promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, sustainable mobility and environmental awareness among the campus community.

Approximately 200 participants from the campus community, including students, faculty members and residents, enthusiastically joined together to celebrate the joy of cycling. The route spanned a total distance of 6 kms, mapped as a 3 kms loop completed twice, offering a well-paced and enjoyable experience for riders of all fitness levels. The rally was flagged off by Prof. Suryanarayana Doolla, Dean (Student Affairs).

The event reflected IIT Bombay’s commitment to fostering healthy lifestyles and environmentally responsible practices. By encouraging cycling as a sustainable mode of transport and recreation, the initiative highlighted the collective role of the community in building a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future.
