The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) had organized the World Technology Convention 2026 at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai on 8–9 May with IIT Bombay as the Knowledge Partner for the convention.
A key highlight of the inaugural plenary was the signing of an MoU between ICC and IIT Bombay to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and further enhance IIT Bombay’s industry engagement initiatives. The MoU was signed by Prof. Milind Atrey, Deputy Director (Academics, Research & Translation), IIT Bombay and Mr. Rajiv Singh, Director General, ICC, in the presence of Prof. S. V. Kulkarni, Dean (R&D), IIT Bombay.
Prof. Milind Atrey delivered the plenary address on “Research Innovation and Translation Ecosystem of IIT Bombay”. Speaking about IIT Bombay’s translational research ecosystem, he remarked, “At IIT Bombay, we execute nearly ₹700 crore worth of research projects every year — but our goal is not research confined to laboratories. Through SINE, our Research Park, and now TRYST, we are building an ecosystem where academia, industry, startups and students come together to translate deep research into technologies, companies and solutions that create real impact for society".
Several IIT Bombay faculty members and researchers contributed to the convention through expert talks and panel discussions, including Prof. Ravindra Gudi, Deputy Director (Finance, Infrastructure and Academics), Prof. Mahesh Tirumkudulu, Prof. Rajesh Zele, Prof. Archak Mittal, Wing Cdr. Rohan Chandak (Retd.), Prof. Majesh Hanawal and Prof. Jayendran.
IIT Bombay also showcased its multidisciplinary innovation ecosystem through the One IIT Bombay pavilion, featuring research and technology demonstrations across multiple verticals.
