IIT Bombay is proud to announce that Team iGEM IIT Bombay has secured a silver medal in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition 2025, held in Paris, France.
The competition is the world's premier synthetic biology event, bringing together over 400 teams from leading global universities to showcase innovative solutions to real-world problems.
The iGEM team, under the guidance of Principal Investigators - Prof. Kiran Kondabagil, BSBE and Prof. Saket Choudhary, KCDH, developed an impactful project aimed at tackling Biofilm Infections through an engineered protease based solution which can safely degrade tough Biofilms and kill the dormant bacteria they harbor. The project's goal is to establish a sustainable and safe therapeutic option for infections associated with Bio-Medical devices (such as Catheters, Breast Implants, Prosthetic Joints), also infections in Cystic Fibrosis, Contact Lenses etc.
Heartiest congratulations to the iGEM team and their faculty mentors for this outstanding achievement!
