The Person with Disability (PwD) Cell at IIT Bombay recently organized a comprehensive awareness programme focused on recent advancements in assistive technologies. The theme of the program was “Innovation is only truly advanced when it is inclusive”. The initiative was specifically designed to empower PwD participants by introducing them to a wide range of technological solutions that support daily activities and professional responsibilities. By emphasizing how these tools can significantly improve productivity and promote independence, the event aimed to help individuals perform on par with their colleagues in any environment.

The programme started with the welcome address by Prof. Nand Kishore, Dean (AA) and Prof. Ratikanta Panda, Convener, PWD Cell, IIT Bombay. The programme featured an interactive mix of live demonstrations, expert sessions and motivational talks. Several leading industrial organizations showcased their innovations: Torchit Electronics demonstrated sensory and learning solutions for various disabilities while Ottobock presented its world-leading microprocessor-controlled prosthetics and mobility aids. Umbrella Palm introduced the "Kibo" device for inclusive reading in 60+ languages and Yashovani showcased their work in recording study materials for the visually challenged.

Additionally, Access For ALL (AFA) and the Deepstambh Foundation highlighted the importance of accessibility audits and quality education for all. Participants gained valuable insights from professionals who shared their personal journeys and achievements while navigating challenges. This event served as a vital platform for knowledge-sharing and fostering greater workplace inclusion.
