About the event:

To mark the anniversary of the adoption of India’s Constitution on November 26, 1949, in 2015 the Government decided to observe 26th November as ‘Constitution Day’ or Samvidhan Diwas. On this day in 1949, the Indian Constitution was adopted which came into force on January 26, 1950 marking the beginning of a new era in the history of India.

The 'Constitution Day' will be a part of year-long nationwide celebrations starting from 26th November, 2019 during which number of activities with special emphasis on Fundamental Duties have been planned by UGC throughout the year with active participation of HEIs .

The Government of India has announced the commencement of a historic year-long celebration to  commemorate the 75 years of the adoption of the Constitution of India, a milestone that reflects the
 remarkable journey of our democracy and the enduring legacy of our founding principles and  Constitutional values starting on Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas), 26th November 2024.
 These celebrations are being conducted under the campaign tagline “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara  Swabhimaan” and aim to honour the contributions of the Constitution’s makers while reiterating  the core values enshrined in it. As part of this celebration, various sections of IIT Bombay have been organizing events to celebrate  75 years of India’s Constitution – “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan”.

IIT Bombay celebrated the 75th Constitution Day on November 26, 2024, commemorating the adoption of India's Constitution in 1949. The celebration reaffirmed IIT Bombay's commitment to
upholding the Constitution's values: justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity. The Institute remains dedicated to fostering a brighter future for all Indians.
A number of events were organised by various sections of IIT Bombay honoring the vision of our founding fathers as below:

Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day) is celebrated every year on 26th November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.

The Ministry had developed a web portal (https://mpa.gov.in/constitution-day) where all the participants joined online from their respective desks and participated in the reading of the preamble.

Those who participated in the online reading of the preamble were awarded e-certificates from the portal.

As per the MoE directives, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay celebrated Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day), November 26, 2021 from 11 am onwards at the ground floor foyer of Main Building of the Institute, in presence of Institute functionaries. Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director, Mr. K.V. Reghuthaman, Joint Registrar, HR-2 (HCM & Payroll) & IoE Cell, Mr. C.P. Joglekar, Joint Deputy Registrar, HR-1 (HRM) and others were present.

The gathering consisting of faculty members, staff and students who watched the live streaming/ telecast of the function addressed by Hon'ble President of India, Hon'ble Vice President and Hon'ble Prime Minister of India at Central Hall, Parliament House.
