IIT Bombay commemorates October 2 every year as the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and India’s second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri. The day is also observed as Swachhata Diwas.

As part of this year’s celebrations, the Swachhata Pledge will be administered, followed by the release of the book A Confluence of Art, Engineering and Design – A Chronicle of IIT Bombay’s Pivotal Role in the Creation of the National Salt Satyagraha Memorial, penned by Ms. Sampurna Chattarji, with Prof. B.K. Chakravarthy, Prof. Devang Khakhar, Prof. Juzer Vasi, Prof. N. Venkataramani and Prof. Raja Mohanty.

The programme will also include the planting of saplings by dignitaries under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, followed by a short cultural performance.
