Guidelines For Sharing Content For Social Media Posts

As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a consistent and professional presence on our official social media platforms, we kindly request all departments and staff members to adhere to the following guidelines when sharing content intended for social media posts.

Social Media Post Guidelines:

1. Content Format:

  • A brief write-up in a Word document
  • Upto 200 words max for Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn posts
  • Upto 45 words (within 280 character limit) for X (Twitter)
  • Include full names of events, dates, venue, key highlights, names of speakers, their designations and include full form of any acronyms used
  • Ensure all details are clear, accurate and relevant to the intended post

2. Visual Assets:

  • A maximum of 4 vertical high-resolution images (JPEG only, max 2MB each) taken in well-lit settings
  • Videos should be in MP4 format (max 2GB) with a proper description
  • Please ensure there is no watermark, blurriness or low-quality visuals

Please adhere to below mentioned Landscape Post size dimensions while sharing photos:

  • Facebook: 1200 x 630 px
  • Instagram: 1080 x 566 px
  • X (Twitter): 1600 x 900 px
  • LinkedIn: 1200 x 627 px

3. Tone and Language:

  • Use clear, simple and inclusive language
  • Avoid technical jargon

4. Timelines:

  • Share the content at least 3-5 working days in advance of the intended posting date to allow time for review and scheduling

5. Approval Requirements:

  • Please ensure all content is approved by HoD beforehand

6. Credit and Tags/ Hashtags:

  • Mention handles of any collaborators/ departments/ ministries/ individuals, if you wish to tag them
  • Please add max 4 relevant hashtags
