Title : "How the economy of culture is reshaping the world"
Speaker: Mr. Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, Government of France
Abstract: A first-hand interaction with the French Minister of Culture with insights into how France leveraged cultural industries for economic growth. In this session the Minister will shed light on the interconnectedness of our world, where science, art, culture, economy, cities, sustainability and technology are symbiotic. The discourse will also dwell upon the unlimited career perspectives that technology students must explore outside of the conventional realms. With statistics and real-time inputs on the economics of culture in India and France, the talk will focus on how France and India can be allies towards creating an irrefutable future in the global world.
About the speaker: Graduate of the Institut Supérieur de Gestion (ISG – Higher Institute of Management) with a Master’s in the Management of Territorial Communities from the ESSEC business school, Franck Riester has been France’s Minister of Culture since 16 October 2018. He was elected Member of Parliament for the 5th constituency of the Seine-et-Marne district in 2007, and joint Chair of the Agir et Indépendants (Action and Independents) UDI Parliamentary Group at the National Assembly in June 2017. He was also Mayor of Coulommiers from 2008 to 2017 and Chair of the Community of Coulommiers District Authorities until 2017.
A member of the Commission of Cultural Affairs and Education when he sat in the National Assembly, Franck Riester is particularly committed to public policies in the areas of culture, the media and new technologies. Also, as a corporate manager running a number of automobile de dealerships, he focused on economic issues, particularly those related to very small and small and medium businesses, and corporate tax affairs.
