WiSE (Women in Science and Engineering from Rural Parts of India) is an IIT Bombay initiative launched in 2023 by Prof. Rajesh Zele. It aims to inspire 10th-grade girls from rural parts of India to explore STEM, addressing gender gaps in higher education. The 2025 edition, held from 25th to 31st May, hosted 200 girls from 68 rural schools across Maharashtra and Karnataka, along with 25 women teachers. WiSE was supported by 70+ volunteers and funded by the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society and IIT Bombay.

Each morning began with motivating talks by women achievers — the Winspirers: Major Mohini Kulkarni, Dr. Ratna Raje, Aparna Popat, Kalyani Deopujari, Judge Laxmi Rao, Dr. Dhanshree Lele, Geeta Tandon, Varsha Parchure, Aabha Chaubal, Dr. Jahanvi Kedare and Rutaja Kedare. Afternoons featured BMP (Break-Make-Program) sessions using aiCAS Lab kits. The girls built electronic circuits, FM radios, sensor systems an Crab Rover. Demos included bacterial art, robotic arms and AUVs from IIT Bombay.

At the Thanksgiving event, WiSE girls performed vibrantly. Director Prof. Shireesh Kedare, IEEE Board member Dr. Rajiv Joshi and Prof. Zele inspired all. Gratitude was extended to Commissioner T. Gopalakrishna (JNV) and Ravi Lad (EMRS). WiSE will continue through online mentoring and school kits.
