virtual assistant to small devices, to facial recognition and chat GPT. These technologies are fundamentally altering the way we work, do business and live. At the same time, the explosion of new information and technologies is expanding exponentially. The pace at which these innovations are entering the market and the scope of their applications create extraordinary opportunities but also raise troubling concerns. On one hand, these powerful tools can engender tremendous goods by tackling pressing problems and enhancing quality of life for people around the world. However, In the wrong hands, they can give rise to wide-scale manipulation deception and worse. Understand how to apply these resources to their best use to harness them for the social good that I would argue is the defining challenge of our time. That I would argue is the defining challenge of our time. And as I look out at you - our future leaders, I have every confidence you will leverage the knowledge that you have acquired at IIT Bombay to meet this challenge head-on. Society needs innovators like you - educated global citizens who can bring their disciplinary expertise to bear on complex issues”.
